Israeli airstrike kills at least 7 in Khan Younis Gaza camp

Tragedy struck as at least seven Palestinians were killed in an Israeli artillery shelling of a tent camp sheltering displaced people in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, according to the Civil Defense Agency.

The attack specifically targeted tents of displaced people in Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis, as reported by the agency.

Gaza’s government media office revealed that around two million people have been displaced due to Israel’s relentless offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Defying a UN Security Council resolution for an immediate cease-fire, Israel has been met with international condemnation for its brutal assault on Gaza, which intensified after an attack by Hamas last October.

With more than 39,600 Palestinians killed, mostly women and children, and over 91,600 injured, Gaza is left in devastation after 10 months of war and a severe blockade on essential resources.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice and was ordered to halt its military operation in Rafah, where over 1 million Palestinians sought refuge before the city was invaded on May 6.
