Iraq, Kuwait to Discuss Security Cooperation

The Iraqi Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, recently visited Kuwait to discuss various security issues and strengthen cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, Al-Shammari delivered a written invitation from Prime Minister Mohammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, inviting him to visit Baghdad.

Key topics of discussion included residency issues, entry visas for Iraqis and Kuwaitis, drug trafficking, information sharing, and joint efforts to combat organized crime. The Iraqi Minister confirmed that his Kuwaiti counterpart will attend a security meeting in Baghdad on July 22.

Al-Shammari also highlighted the importance of border security and reviewed a memorandum of understanding signed between Iraq and Kuwait in 2016. The visit, which included a high-level delegation, aimed to strengthen security cooperation and foster closer ties between the two nations.

Overall, the meeting was deemed successful, paving the way for future collaboration in the fight against crime and enhancing regional security.
