Iran’s Foreign Minister Responds to Israeli Aggression

Iran’s acting Foreign Minister, Ali Baqeri Kani, declared at a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that Iran will retaliate against the Israeli assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The Minister emphasized the necessity of this response to deter further aggression against Iran in the absence of action by the UN Security Council.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has no option but to use its inherent right to legitimate defense against the aggressions of this regime.”

Kani highlighted that Iran has always sought to prevent escalation of conflict in the region but now must act to protect its sovereignty. The response, he stated, will be carried out at the appropriate time and in a proportionate manner.
