Iran denies plotting US assassinations

The US Justice Department recently charged a Pakistani man, Asif Merchant, with alleged ties to Iran in connection with a foiled murder-for-hire plot to assassinate US politicians or government officials. The FBI investigation revealed that Trump and other officials were targets of this plot.

The Iranian Mission stated that they had not received any reports on the matter from the US government and highlighted Iran’s commitment to legally prosecuting the murderer of General Soleimani. Despite allegations, Iran believes that Trump should be brought to justice through legal means.

General Qasem Soleimani of the IRGC Quds Force, who played a significant role in combating ISIS in the Middle East, was assassinated in a US drone strike in 2020. Iran remains determined to prosecute Trump for his role in Soleimani’s killing.

CNN reported on a possible Iranian plan to kill Trump, which contradicted an earlier claim that a man named Thomas Matthew Crooks was responsible for an attempted assassination during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Trump was evacuated after Crooks fired shots.
