The conflict arose in Langeberg, Western Cape, after the FF Plus refused to support the coalition’s budget in May. This breach of agreement led to a breakdown of trust between the parties, according to the DA’s provincial leader Tertuis Simmers.
The situation escalated as both parties were unable to resolve their differences, leading to the dissolution of their coalition. This incident follows previous tensions in Oudtshoorn, where a similar coalition collapsed, resulting in the FF Plus and the ANC taking control.
