Bengaluru’s rising issue of missing females.

Recent crime data from Bengaluru reveals safety concerns, with 485 women and girls reported missing over the past 12 years and still untraced. Among them are minors and young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

A senior police officer mentioned that families with resources often locate missing persons independently, while those from lower socio-economic strata face social stigma, hindering their pursuit of justice.

Investigators observe a trend where cases involving minor girls become unresponsive after filing reports, possibly due to concealed information or fear of societal judgment.

Despite challenges, the police continue investigations, utilizing tools like CCTVs and network analysis. The recent emphasis on revisiting unsolved cases has led to progress in resolving long-standing missing person reports.

The authorities are vigilant against human trafficking and maintain close monitoring to prevent such activities. While hurdles exist, efforts are ongoing to address missing person cases effectively.
