Assam doesn’t need biased laws.

Assam, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been at the forefront of implementing policies that discriminate against the Muslim community. Earlier this year, the state repealed the Muslim Marriages and Divorces Registration Act, claiming it promoted child marriage. In addition, government-run madrasas have been converted into general education schools.

Government schemes in Assam have been accused of excluding Muslims, with Sarma even attributing the increase in vegetable prices to Muslim traders. Other BJP-ruled states, like Uttar Pradesh, have also implemented discriminatory policies targeting Muslims.

This anti-Muslim sentiment is being intentionally fueled, with the goal of creating an ecosystem that isolates and persecutes the minority community. Assam, under Sarma’s leadership, has played a significant role in this campaign against Muslims.
