Breaking News: Remains of Missing Azerbaijani Servicemen Found in Kalbajar
In a joint statement from Azerbaijan’s State Security Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens, it was revealed that the remains of two military servicemen who went missing two years ago in Lachin were discovered in Kalbajar.
The search operation, conducted by the State Commission of Azerbaijan for Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Citizens, uncovered the remains of Farid Mammadov and Firdovsi Abdullayev, who disappeared in 2022 after getting lost in a snowstorm in a high mountainous area.
After comprehensive investigations, it was determined that the servicemen died from freezing due to prolonged exposure to low temperatures. The families of the missing soldiers have been informed, and arrangements are being made for their burial in cooperation with relevant state bodies.
