Falklands: independent review of Legislative Assembly retributions
Looking ahead to the Assembly elections in November 2025, an independent review of the Legislative Assembly system’s retributions and allowances scheme is necessary.
The Governor will appoint a panel to conduct the review, seeking expressions of interest from non-civil service members. Panel members from Stanley and Camp will be reimbursed expenses and receive a £1,000 ex-gratia payment upon fulfilling the review’s Terms of Reference.
Interested parties can seek further information from the Chief Executive, Clerk to the Assembly, or the independent chair. Expressions of interest should be submitted to the Acting Governor by August 21, 2024.
Since the 2013 general election, MLAs have received salaries and are expected to work full-time, relinquishing previous jobs or business interests.
