Report: 80% of Gaza school strike casualties were children

Tragic Israeli Bombardment Kills Dozens in Gaza Schools

On August 4, 2024, tragedy struck in Gaza City as Israeli attacks on two United Nations-run schools led to the deaths of at least 30 Palestinians, with the majority being children. The strike on the Hassan Salama and al-Nasr schools resulted in 80% of the victims being children, adding to the already devastating toll of the conflict.

Since July, 11 schools in Gaza have been hit, causing approximately 150 deaths and displacing thousands of families. The recent attacks have left the region reeling, with bodies scattered in school yards and residents rushing to aid the injured.

As tensions in the region escalate, the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran has further inflamed the situation. Both Hamas and Iran have accused Israel of the assassination and have vowed retaliation, leading to fears of further violence and bloodshed.

The ongoing military campaign in Gaza has taken a heavy toll, with at least 39,623 Palestinian deaths reported by Gaza health officials. The international community must act swiftly to prevent further loss of innocent lives in this devastating conflict.
