Paris hospitality revenue boost falls short of expectations

Despite the eyes of the world being on Paris for the Olympic Games, many local hotels and restaurants are struggling to see a significant boost in revenue. Empty tables, uncrowded trains, and quieter-than-usual tourist attractions have made the city more manageable for visitors, but those working in the hospitality industry are feeling the pinch.

Managers like Luca Moreau from La Methode bar and Noemie Lagrasta from Les Insouciants restaurant express disappointment over the lack of foot traffic and decrease in revenue during the Olympics. Hotel operators have been forced to lower prices and drop minimum stay requirements to attract last-minute travelers, after facing accusations of price gouging with artificially high rates set initially.

Despite the challenges, latest figures from the Paris Tourism Board show that average hotel prices have fallen, and occupancy rates are high. While some Irish fans have been impacted by price fluctuations, last-minute bookers seem to have found better deals.

Overall, the director-general of the Paris Tourism Board, Corinne Menegaux, remains optimistic about the long-term benefits of hosting the Olympics, despite the current challenges faced by some businesses in the city.
