Morocco Ranks 15th in Global Silver Production

According to the World Silver Survey 2024, Morocco has secured the 15th position among the top silver-producing countries worldwide in 2023. The country’s silver production has reached 8.8 million ounces, showing a 1% increase from the previous year.

With a steady increase in output since 2014, when it produced 7.8 million ounces, Morocco hit a peak of 10.3 million ounces in 2017. Despite minor declines in the following years, the recent figures indicate a positive growth trend, with 2023 continuing the upward momentum.

In Africa, Morocco stands out as the leading silver producer, contributing 49% of the continent’s total production. The kingdom’s output in 2023 amounted to 275 tons out of Africa’s 562 tons of silver production, surpassing other African nations like Botswana, Eritrea, and South Africa.

Morocco’s consistent performance is credited to its rich mineral reserves, a stable mining sector, and continuous investments in mining technology and infrastructure. With a promising future ahead due to ongoing investments and favorable government policies, Morocco remains a strong player in the global silver market.

Globally, Mexico, China, and Peru dominate silver production, with the top 15 countries contributing nearly 80% of the world’s total output. Morocco’s position among these top producers reflects its growing presence in the global silver industry.
