Meta Apologizes for Removing Malaysian Prime Minister’s Posts on Haniyeh Assassination

Meta has issued an apology after removing posts by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim discussing the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. The social media posts have been reinstated with a note acknowledging a violation of community guidelines.

Ibrahim’s posts included a video expressing condolences on Haniyeh’s killing and condemning the act as a hindrance to peace talks. Malaysian officials met with Meta representatives to address the issue.

In response, Ibrahim criticized Meta for suppression of free expression and urged them to stop supporting Israel. Ibrahim previously expressed solidarity with anti-Israel actions at the International Court of Justice.

Technical investigations have confirmed that Haniyeh’s assassination was carried out using a projectile. The reinstated posts highlight Ibrahim’s commitment to peace in the Middle East.
