Locals in Tamworth are coming together to clean up the aftermath of a violent attack on a Holiday Inn by a far-right mob. Labour MP Sarah Edwards condemned the violence targeting asylum seekers in her constituency, emphasizing that it is not a legitimate form of protest but criminal behavior.
Edwards stressed that such violent actions will not be tolerated in a welcoming and caring community like Tamworth. The mob attacked the hotel, leaving one police officer injured. Edwards faces criticism for mentioning the same hotel in a speech to parliament, where she expressed the desire for it to return to its original purpose of serving tourists.
Following the violent incident, similar attacks occurred at a Holiday Inn in Rotherham. The violence was sparked by false reports linking a suspect in a murder case to Muslim and refugee communities, leading to an increase in Islamophobic and racist violence across the UK.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has promised a tough response to these incidents, with arrests already made and more individuals being identified by the police for their involvement.
