Kosovo Serbs protest arrest of 5 war crime suspects

Protest in Kosovo Serb Village Over Arrests for War Crimes

Hundreds of Kosovo Serbs gathered in Pasjan to protest the recent arrest of five Serbs accused of war crimes dating back to 1999. The detainees are suspected of committing crimes in Gnjilane, Kosovo Polje, and Zvecan. The protesters claim the accused are innocent and have been living in Kosovo since the conflict, urging their release.

The arrests have sparked outrage among Kosovo Serbs, who believe they are being targeted to drive them out of the region. Serbian President Vucic has called for international support to counter these actions and accused representatives of turning a blind eye to the Serbian community’s struggles in Kosovo.

Meanwhile, Kosovo police conducted raids on Serbian post office branches near the border, reminiscent of previous actions that led to the closure of Serbian financial institutions in Kosovo. Despite Kosovo declaring independence in 2008, Serbia still considers it part of its territory.
