New York Judge Delays Key Ruling in Trump’s Hush Money Case
A judge in Donald Trump’s hush money trial has postponed a key ruling on presidential immunity until two days before Trump’s scheduled sentencing. Originally set for September 6, the immunity decision has been pushed back to September 16. Trump’s lawyers requested the judge to rule first on their bid to step aside from the case, leading to the delay. The sentencing is still scheduled for September 18.
Trump was found guilty in May of falsifying business records to conceal hush money paid to porn actor Stormy Daniels in 2016. His lawyers argue that the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity warrants overturning the guilty verdict. Meanwhile, the Manhattan district attorney’s office maintains that the ruling has no bearing on the case as it involves unofficial acts.
With ongoing legal battles and appeals, the hush money case is one of four criminal prosecutions against Trump. The highly publicized trial continues to draw attention for its implications on presidential immunity and legal proceedings.
