Hiroaki Takada, an information science professor at Nagoya University, believes that only two or three operating system makers for cars will survive globally. He also chaired the Japanese government’s committee on software-defined vehicles and emphasized the importance of Japanese companies accounting for 30% of the software-defined vehicle market worldwide by 2030.
With the government’s goal in mind, automakers and technology firms responsible for operating systems in cars are becoming increasingly essential in advancing passenger transport. Just like engine and battery manufacturers, companies developing software for smarter and more autonomous vehicles play a crucial role in the industry.
