Gujarat govt to present bill against black magic, aghori practices to HC.

The Gujarat government has vowed to crack down on black magic practices and ‘aghori’ activities by introducing a new bill in the upcoming session of the legislative assembly. Responding to a PIL requesting action against fraudulent tantrik activities, the state Home Department confirmed the plan in an affidavit submitted to the Gujarat High Court.

The petition, filed by Akhil Bhartiya Andhsraddha Nirmool Samiti, highlights gruesome instances of individuals posing as godmen who engage in despicable rituals, including sacrificial practices. The plea urges for strict legislation to curb such heinous acts prevalent in tribal areas of Gujarat, citing laws in neighboring states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Rajasthan.

The court is set to resume hearings on the matter, arguing that the government’s inaction violates several fundamental rights of citizens. With the proposed bill, the state aims to protect vulnerable individuals from falling victim to exploitative and dangerous practices.
