Germany secures a spot in the Olympics semifinals for the first time by defeating Greece 76-63. Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder led the way, with Wagner scoring 18 points and Schroder adding 13 points and eight assists. The win sets up a semi-final clash against the winner of France and Canada, with Germany aiming to build on their best finish of seventh place in 1992.

The victory continued Germany’s unbeaten streak in the Paris Games after going 3-0 in the group stage. Despite a slow start and being down by 12 points at one stage, Germany rallied in the second half to clinch the win. Wagner acknowledged the team’s special bond and motivation, emphasizing their desire to make the most of this opportunity.

On the other hand, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s strong performance of 22 points was not enough to carry Greece to the semi-finals, as Germany capitalized on turnovers to seal the victory.
