Falklands Community Memorial Service for the M/V Argos Georgia and Crew

On Sunday 4th August, the Falkland Islands community gathered for a touching memorial service honoring the crew of the lost Argos Georgia. Acting Governor Adam Pile was present to pay tribute to the nine deceased crew members and four still missing.

The Falklands government formally ceased recovery efforts to find the missing crew members after an extensive search by MV Pharos SG. Vessels passing through the area are urged to report any findings to the Falklands Maritime Authority.

Despite challenging conditions, the Falklands Maritime Authority and Fisheries Protection Vessel “Lilibet” were commended for their efforts during the rescue mission. The Argos Georgia, a longliner fishing vessel, sank east of Stanley while catching Patagonian toothfish, resulting in casualties and missing crew members.

A heartfelt ceremony was held by the crew of Argos Helena to remember those lost at sea. The Falklands community came together in solidarity to honor the memory of the Argos Georgia crew.
