Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar was rushed to the hospital from the court after his health deteriorated on Tuesday. Asad Umar was taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology by jail administration after his health worsened during an ATC appearance due to suffocation in the courtroom. Amidst the support of lawyers and court staff, Umar was helped towards the vehicle outside the ATC.
The PIC administration mentioned that a team of doctors is currently examining Asad Umar based on initial test reports. In June, Umar was also taken to the hospital from his residence in Karachi with the help of the Sindh Rescue Ambulance Service 1122. Praising the quick response of the ambulance service, Asad Umar expressed his gratitude in a video statement.
In May 2023, following the May 9 riots, Asad Umar resigned as the PTI’s secretary general and announced his complete departure from politics. Once a close aide of PTI founder Imran Khan, Umar stated his decision to resign from the basic membership of PTI.
