The People of Ekiti State and the Hunger Protest Dilemma

APC, PDP at odds over hunger crisis in Ekiti

In Ekiti State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are at odds over the issue of hunger and the recent decision by Ekiti residents to abstain from nationwide protests.

While Governor Biodun Oyebanji urged residents to avoid the hunger protest to prevent potential violence, PDP Chairman Chief Alaba Agboola highlighted the impact of bad governance leading to food insecurity in the state.

Agboola emphasized that the people of Ekiti are too hungry to engage in protests, stating that sitting at home is also a form of protest in itself.

On the other hand, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, defended the government, claiming that Ekiti residents trust in the governor’s leadership and good governance, leading them to refrain from joining the protests.

The conflicting perspectives highlight the complex socio-political dynamics in Ekiti State, where hunger and governance intertwine in shaping the actions and beliefs of its citizens.
