Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler recently addressed the Cyprus issue, emphasizing Turkey’s support for a two-state solution during a meeting with senior military officials.
Guler stated, “We continue our efforts to ensure that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus receives its due position on the international stage,” highlighting Turkey’s commitment to the region’s stability and security.
With Cyprus divided since 1974, Guler marked the 50th anniversary of Turkey’s intervention as a crucial moment in protecting Turkish Cypriots. The Turkish Cypriot side now insists on recognition of its equal sovereignty in any future talks with the internationally recognized Cypriot government.
Guler reaffirmed Turkey’s dedication to bolstering bilateral relations and regional security cooperation, aiming to maintain peace amidst escalating tensions.
