McElgunn emphasized the need to monitor individuals suspected of espionage activities closely and collaborate with international partners to address these threats. Despite maintaining diplomatic relations with Russia, Ireland is preparing a security agreement with Ukraine, demonstrating its stance against Russia’s aggression.
While Ireland upholds neutrality and refrains from providing lethal military aid to Ukraine, it recognizes Russia’s actions against Ukraine as genocide. The country has also welcomed approximately 100,000 Ukrainian refugees since the onset of Russia’s invasion.
