North Korea unveils new missile arsenal

North Korea Bolsters Military Capabilities with 250 New Tactical Ballistic Missile Launchers

Amid rising tensions with the US and South Korea, North Korea has showcased its military might by introducing 250 new tactical ballistic missile launchers. Leader Kim Jong-un oversaw the parade of these systems in Pyongyang, emphasizing their significance in bolstering the country’s border defenses.

The transfer of these new weapons was marked by a solemn ceremony attended by Kim Jong-un and other top officials. The images shared by the state-run KCNA news agency depict rows of khaki-colored military vehicles, creating a powerful display.

Although the specific type of missiles remains unclear, North Korea had previously claimed to have successfully tested a missile capable of carrying a 4.5 ton “super-large warhead” with a maximum range of 500km. Kim Jong-un hailed these weapons as a “powerful treasured sword” that would enhance North Korea’s prestige and defense capabilities.

In response to perceived threats from the US and its allies, Kim emphasized the importance of being prepared for confrontation. Recent missile tests by North Korea have fueled tensions, with concerns raised about potential military drills near the Korean peninsula.

South Korea’s Unification Ministry spokesperson refuted claims of posing a threat, attributing instability to North Korea’s nuclear and missile development. The situation highlights the delicate balance of power in the region, with dialogue and confrontation both on the table.
