The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has successfully disbursed monthly stipends for July to 20,371 students from six tertiary institutions. This initiative, championed by President Bola Tinubu, aims to provide financial stability to Nigerian students throughout their academic journey.
Each beneficiary student received a monthly upkeep stipend of N20,000, with disbursements already underway for those from institutions where institutional fees have been paid by NELFUND. Institutions such as Bayero University Kano, University of Ilorin, and University of Benin are among the beneficiaries.
NELFUND is actively working to extend this support to students from around 55 more tertiary institutions within the next two weeks, emphasizing their commitment to prompt stipend payments. The organization remains dedicated to assisting Nigerian students in achieving their educational aspirations.
In addition, President Tinubu has allocated a further N50 billion from recovered proceeds of crime to NELFUND, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting students and institutions. NELFUND appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders as they strive to fulfill their promises to Nigerian students.
