Jamiat adamantly opposes any amendment to weaken waqf boards

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has expressed strong opposition to any proposed amendments in the Wakf Act that could alter the status and nature of waqf properties, making them susceptible to misuse. The organization’s chief Maulana Arshad Madani emphasized the significance of preserving the sanctity of waqf properties, which are dedicated to religious and charitable purposes by Muslim elders.

Madani criticized the government for its alleged interference in Muslim religious affairs, pointing out the importance of safeguarding the constitutional rights and religious freedoms of every citizen. He warned that any attempts to weaken waqf boards or tamper with the fundamental purpose of waqf endowments would be vehemently opposed.

The Jamiat reaffirmed its commitment to protecting waqf properties throughout history and declared readiness to challenge any unfavorable legislation in the Supreme Court. The proposed bill to amend the Wakf Act, aiming to enhance accountability in waqf board operations, has sparked concerns within the Muslim community regarding potential misuse of these valuable assets.

As discussions continue, the Jamiat remains steadfast in its resolve to uphold the true essence and purpose of waqf properties, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
