Israel’s actions in Gaza amount to crimes against humanity, according to Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. In a statement made during his visit to Egypt, Fidan condemned Israel for blocking aid, targeting humanitarian workers, and preventing the evacuation of civilians. He described these actions as the “first phase of the genocide” happening in Gaza.
Fidan emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to providing assistance to the people of Gaza and called on the global community to take action against Israel’s oppression. He urged for greater efforts to ensure aid reaches Gaza without obstruction.
During his visit, Fidan also met with Egyptian officials to discuss bilateral cooperation. This marked his first official meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty. The two diplomats will prepare for the upcoming High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting, to be held during Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s visit to Türkiye.
