Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasizes Russia as a strategic partner, highlighting the need for closer ties with Moscow. The two countries aim to implement agreements to strengthen their alliance.
During a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, Pezeshkian condemned unilateralism and stressed collaboration for global security. The visit comes after Israel’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, escalating tensions in the region.
Pezeshkian vowed a response to the attack, labeling it a violation of international laws. Moscow also denounced the incident and expressed support for Iran. Shoigu praised Iran as a key ally and highlighted joint efforts for regional security.
Gen. Baqeri affirmed deep-rooted Iran-Russia relations, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation. Both sides expressed interest in tripartite cooperation with China. Shoigu’s visit aims to strengthen collaboration on regional issues, following an invitation from Iran’s Security Council Secretary.
