BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. A recent demining operation in Lachin region of Azerbaijan uncovered a minefield in the southern part of Kichik Ishigli Mount. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that 102 anti-personnel mines of E-001 М, produced in Armenia in 2021, were safely collected and neutralized by the engineer-sapper units of the Azerbaijan Army.
The ongoing efforts to clear the area of mines are crucial for ensuring the safety of the local population and facilitating the return of displaced individuals to their homes. The discovery of this minefield highlights the continued presence of explosive remnants of war in the region, emphasizing the importance of demining operations for post-conflict reconstruction and stability.
