Government targets fall reset amid pandemic.

As the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) approaches in September, the government is gearing up to address key issues affecting the daily lives of the people. Starting with adjustments to reduce the burden on self-employed professionals, the government aims to regain public trust after setbacks in the recent European Parliament elections.

Efforts to strengthen hospital emergency services within the National Health System (ESY) are on the agenda to attract medical staff with better salaries and improve outpatient clinics. Education reforms, including upgrades to school infrastructure and curriculum changes, are also a priority under Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

The government is also considering measures to support larger families, with incentives such as tax exemptions for second children and an expansion of nursery places through programs like My Home 2. Furthermore, addressing the cost-of-living crisis remains a top concern, with plans to tighten control mechanisms against price increases attributed to international factors.
