Former Republican Virginia Rep. Denver Riggleman has made a bold endorsement for the upcoming presidential election by throwing his support behind Kamala Harris. In a scathing statement released by the Harris campaign, Riggleman condemned Donald Trump for his actions on January 6, stating, “I cannot stand by while he tries to destroy our country.” Riggleman, a former two-time endorsee by Trump, lost his position in Congress in 2021 to Rep. Bob Good.
In response to being included in the Republicans for Harris campaign, Riggleman emphasized the dangers of Trump and his followers. He expressed concerns over a potential second Trump term creating global chaos and endangering American citizens.
Riggleman, a former Air Force intelligence officer and distillery owner, continued his public service by joining the House Jan. 6 committee post-Congress. Other notable Republicans who have endorsed Harris include former White House official Stephanie Grisham, ex-Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, and former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman.
