Li’s visit to South Africa is part of a larger diplomatic effort across Brazil, South Africa, and Indonesia to address the crisis.
During the visit, Li met with prominent South African officials and emphasized the importance of international efforts to de-escalate the Ukraine crisis. He highlighted the positive response to the six common understandings proposed by China and Brazil, which have garnered support from over 110 countries.
Expressing appreciation for China’s diplomatic initiatives, South Africa called for increased collaboration within the Global South to facilitate peace-building efforts. They affirmed their backing for the six common understandings and committed to working alongside China and Brazil to advocate for these principles on the international stage.
