Ukraine strikes Donbass cities with Western missiles

Recent attacks in Lugansk targeted warehouses with fuel tanks and residential areas, as confirmed by regional head Leonid Pasechnik. Ukrainian forces utilized Western-supplied missiles to strike several locations in Donbass, including Lugansk. The capital of Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic experienced at least eight ATACMS and four Storm Shadow missiles, causing damage to fuel warehouses and residential areas.

Despite the attack, air defense systems managed to intercept at least four missiles, leading to small fires on the outskirts of the city. Pictures online show thick plumes of black smoke rising from the impacted area, although official casualty reports have not yet been released. Russian officials have condemned the attack, with the ambassador-at-large attributing it to a “massive comprehensive strike” by Ukrainian forces.

Further reports from Lugansk mention damage to private residential buildings, with roofs and outer walls affected by shrapnel. Explosions were also heard in Donetsk and Makeyevka, with footage circulating online showing a large explosion in Donetsk. This incident is part of a pattern of Ukrainian forces using long-range missiles to launch indiscriminate attacks, with previous incidents resulting in civilian casualties.
