One CVS employee in Washington, D.C. revealed that shoplifters steal from her store on a daily basis, with store procedures often limited to documenting incidents rather than pursuing suspects.
California has been a hotspot for shoplifting, driving up prices for consumers as stores raise prices to make up for lost inventory. A recent survey from LendingTree found that 23% of Americans admit to shoplifting, with many citing inflation and economic hardships as reasons for their theft.
