Russia’s armed forces have claimed to have seized the village of Novoselivka Persha in eastern Ukraine, marking another advancement in the ongoing conflict. Despite the three years of fighting, neither Kyiv nor Moscow has been able to gain a decisive advantage. Moscow’s forces, however, have recently made progress by capturing territory in the region.
The defense ministry of Russia stated that the forces had “liberated the settlement of Novoselivka Persha” in the Donetsk region, northwest of Avdiivka. Moscow has also declared that it has taken control of several other villages in the region in the past few weeks.
In 2022, Russia claimed to have annexed the Donetsk region along with three other areas in eastern and southern Ukraine, despite not having full control over them. The conflict continues to escalate with both sides vying for dominance.
