Philippines, Germany to finalize defense pact this year

The Philippines and Germany have affirmed their commitment to signing a defense cooperation arrangement this year, pledging to uphold the international rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region. During a historic meeting in Manila, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Philippine Defense Minister Gilberto Teodoro vowed to strengthen ties between their armed forces through training, exchanges, and joint projects.

As the Philippines seeks to modernize its military, Teodoro expressed interest in potential armaments cooperation with Germany in areas such as command and control, maritime defense, and advanced technology equipment.
