Iran’s Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) announced that the country’s major steel producers have achieved a record aluminum ingot production totaling 169,141 metric tons in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year. This marks a 1.5% increase from the same period last year.
The South Aluminum Company (SALCO) contributed the most to this production, with 71,363 metric tons during the three-month period. Established in 2018, SALCO operates the largest aluminum smelter in Iran and has been a significant player in boosting the country’s aluminum production and employment opportunities in the southern province of Fars.
Other major smelters like IRALCO and Al-Mahdi Aluminum also reported impressive production figures, attributing the increase to improved feedstock supplies and renovation programs. Additionally, Iran Alumina, the largest supplier of aluminum feedstock in the country, recorded a production of 9,405 metric tons of aluminum during the same period.
This surge in aluminum production in Iran’s major smelters showcases the country’s commitment to expanding its industrial capabilities and contributing to the global aluminum market.
IMIDRO further reported that Iran Alumina company produced 57,639 metric tons of alumina powder, 97,746 metric tons of aluminum hydroxide, and 180,448 metric tons of bauxite (aluminum ore) in the three months leading up to late June, highlighting its vital role in the aluminum production supply chain in Iran.
