BEIRUT – In August 2020, a devastating explosion at the Beirut port killed over 200 people, wounded thousands, and left the city in ruins, causing widespread devastation. The explosion, caused by the detonation of hundreds of tons of ammonium nitrate, shocked the nation and exposed the corruption and mismanagement of the ruling elite.
Four years later, the wounds of the blast remain raw as families of victims seek justice. Investigative Judge Tarek Bitar has been tirelessly probing the blast, charging top officials despite efforts to obstruct his investigation.
