The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to construct building materials manufacturing hubs in Nigeria’s six geo-political zones. This ambitious project aims to boost the local production of essential construction materials.
Housing Minister, Ahmed Dangiwa, revealed the ministry’s plan during a meeting with representatives from China-Africa Business Council. The manufacturing hubs will be strategically located in Sagamu, Aba, Warri/Asaba, Ajaokuta, Kano, and Gombe.
The minister emphasized the importance of collaboration with investors to bring this project to fruition. The hubs will focus on producing items such as roofing sheets, ceilings, tiles, and doors, while also providing basic amenities for workers.
Dangiwa also announced the government’s intention to designate the hubs as free zone areas to reduce import costs, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic growth. Interested investors will have the opportunity to develop their designs on allocated land, with flexibility in project size.
