At least 27 people have been killed in Bangladesh over the weekend as anti-government protesters clashed with the police during fresh demonstrations.

Hundreds of thousands of protesters returned to the streets of the South Asian nation demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after violent anti-quota demonstrations.

The government resorted to extreme measures to control the protests, leading to arrests and clashes across the country.

Critics accused the government of using excessive force, while the government defended its actions, attributing the protests to political opponents.

Despite the unrest, the Supreme Court made adjustments to the quota system that initially fueled the protests.
