Lahore Election Controversy: PTI Alleges Electoral Fraud in NA-130
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Yasmin Rashid’s counsel has accused that 74,000 bogus votes were cast in NA-130 to secure the victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif. Former Attorney General Punjab, Ahmed Owais, claimed that the electoral fraud took place on February 8 in NA-130 (Lahore).
Ahmed Owais highlighted that the final result showed a significant increase in Nawaz Sharif’s vote count from most polling stations and questioned the legitimacy of the process. Yasmin Rashid challenged Nawaz’s victory in both the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Lahore High Court, seeking justice and transparency in the electoral system.
Earlier, civil society organization PATTAN also raised concerns about potential rigging in NA-130, dubbing the constituency’s electoral history as the worst form of rigging in Punjab since 2002. The organization emphasized discrepancies in the recorded voter turnouts and alleged manipulation of official forms to favor Nawaz Sharif’s share in the polls.
