The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has directly blamed President Bola Tinubu for the casualties and distress caused by the ongoing nationwide protest. Kennedy Peretei, the Publicity Secretary of the party, expressed that the protest, which commenced on August 1, 2024, has intensified suffering and sorrow among citizens nationwide.
Peretei emphasized that the protest could have been much more peaceful if the Tinubu-led administration had addressed the grievances of Nigerians beforehand. The death toll has risen to more than 17, with numerous individuals receiving treatment in health facilities.
Despite Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s alleged inducements to prevent protests in Ondo State, the PDP insists that the state needs to participate in the protest due to the government’s shortcomings. The APC, on the other hand, praised the state’s peaceful stance and criticized the PDP for attempting to instigate unrest.
Ultimately, the PDP and APC continue to clash over the handling of the protests, with differing views on the peaceful approach taken by the people of Ondo State.
