Man facing court for ramming State buildings’ gates

A man in his 40s has been charged with criminal damage at several State buildings including Government Buildings, the office of the Attorney General, Leinster House, Áras an Uachtaráin, and the Custom House. The incidents involved a white transit van being driven into the gates of these buildings. Despite causing damage, no one was injured during the attacks.

The man is due to appear in Dublin District Court, following his arrest in the city centre after the van was seized. Gardaí are investigating the motive behind the attacks and are reviewing CCTV footage and social media accounts linked to the suspect. While threats of violence were made online, authorities have ruled out terrorism.

The scenes of the incidents have been preserved for examination as detectives work to piece together the events that unfolded in the early hours of the morning. The community awaits further updates as the investigation progresses.
