Kazakhstan is making significant strides to digitalize its energy industry by implementing key initiatives in 2024, as reported by the government. A pilot project for digital monitoring of subsoil user licensing and contract conditions has been launched, along with the trial operation of the Digital Generation Map module for reporting on renewable energy sources. The Digital Energy Platform has seen the development and implementation of various modules, including passports for energy-producing enterprises and cabinets for government agencies and consumers.
Plans for the year include the continued development of the system and further digitalization to improve energy resource management efficiency and transparency. Automation of government services, electronic classifiers for the oil and gas industry, and AI-assisted supply planning are in progress. Kazakhstan also saw a boost in oil production and exports in 2023, with plans to increase production further in 2024. Gas production reached 59.063 billion cubic meters, while electricity production stood at 112.8 billion kWh in 2023.
