In a bold move, the Jammu and Kashmir government recently took action against six employees for their involvement in terror funding and narco-terrorism. The dismissals, which included five police officers and one teacher, were conducted under Article 311 of the Constitution of India.
The government statement highlighted the deep involvement of these individuals in anti-national activities, as uncovered by law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Among the dismissed employees, Saif Din, a police constable, was identified as a notorious drug peddler linked to Hizbul Mujahideen, facilitating the smuggling of weapons and narcotics. Other officers like Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Khalid Hussain Shah, and Rahmat Shah were also found to be complicit in receiving narcotics from Pakistan-based smugglers.
These individuals were not only involved in drug trafficking but also played a key role in financing terrorism in the region. Irshad Ahmad Chalkoo, a police constable, developed connections with terrorist associates, while Madam Din, a teacher, was actively engaged in drug peddling and supporting Hizbul Mujahideen operatives.
