Islamabad ATC orders judicial remand for PTI’s Raoof Hasan in terrorism case

An Islamabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) has sent PTI information secretary Raoof Hasan on a 14-day judicial remand in connection with a case involving the alleged recovery of explosives. Hasan was arrested on July 22 under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). His arrest coincided with accusations of the PTI’s involvement in “anti-state propaganda”. Subsequently, a joint investigation committee was formed to probe such activities.

Hasan was also remanded to the FIA’s custody for seven days regarding a social media case. While bail was granted in the social media case, Hasan was transferred to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on a two-day physical remand in a terrorism case. Despite objections and requests for medical check-ups, Hasan was sent on a 14-day judicial remand by the ATC.

Medical Check-up and Post-Arrest Bail

Hasan filed petitions for post-arrest bail and a medical check-up, citing health concerns that require hospitalization. The ATC has issued notices for further hearings on these matters, indicating a decision will be made based on the case records.
