Huge protest in Sanaa denounces Hamas leader Haniyeh’s assassination

Protesters in Sana’a rally against the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and to support the Palestinian cause.

Thousands gathered in Yemen’s capital to denounce the killing of Haniyeh in an alleged Israeli attack during his visit to Iran. Hamas confirmed the death, prompting declarations of mourning from the Palestinian Authority and Iran. The incident has sparked global condemnation from countries like Russia, China, and groups including the Taliban and Hezbollah.

While Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has previously hinted at Mossad operations against Hamas. Haniyeh, a key Hamas figure since 1987, held various leadership positions within the group and the Palestinian government.
