A Canadian woman has been charged with smuggling 14.4kg of meth into Australia hidden in her luggage. The drugs, worth $13.4 million, were discovered by Border Force officers at Brisbane International Airport. The 24-year-old woman, who started her journey in Vancouver, Canada, faces one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
The meth was cleverly concealed inside plastic packages wrapped in vinegar-soaked towels and coffee beans. Detective Acting Superintendent Steve Wiggins emphasized the damaging impact of methamphetamine on the community, highlighting its link to criminal activities and violence.
