The James W Foley Legacy Foundation reports that more than 40 Americans are wrongly held abroad, mostly by state actors like China, Iran, or Russia.
Individuals like Ksenia Karelina in Russia, Austin Tice in Syria, and Marc Fogel in Russia are just a few examples of those affected. Mark Swidan in China and Ryan Corbett in Afghanistan also face similar predicaments.
